(Oh, Christmas)

I am finally finished with Christmas shopping.
Also purchased a copy of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, by Stieg Larsson.
I was stuck in the check-out line for 30 minutes so I got a headstart on the first 2 chapters.
I like it a lot so far!

{I'm home part III}

On the 28th Travis and I went out on a fancy date!
He took me to Ouzos in downtown Kalamazoo.
I wore my 1930's Neiman Marcus dress.
He wore the suspenders I got him (plus other clothes too)!

The restaurant was in a 150 year old building.
The only light was produced from candles.
The original pressed tin ceiling was present as well as a hand carved bar from the 1920's.
The food was delicious- we both ordered gyros.
Mine had veggies and his lamb.
We also had a bottle of Red Rock to drink.

{I'm home, part II}

I went shopping yesterday and when I came home I found a broken off key in my lock.. someone tried to break in.
My ex-husband tried calling me while I was out and about.
I didn't answer.. I think he has something to do with it.
My neighbor helped me get back in.
I have to stay home all day waiting for the apartment manager to come and replace the lock.
At least that means more writing/blogging/cleaning/cooking time!

While in Michigan, we spent the night at one of Travis' friend's houses in Kalamazoo.
By the way.. I saw 2 reindeer there!
A gorgeous old house.. I am jealous.
I found some white wine entitled "Liebfraumilch", literally "Mother's milk" and just had to try it.
I'm a red wine person, but it was okay.

{I'm home, part I}

I had the most wonderful Christmas!
I spent the holidays up in Michigan with Travis and his family.
There are so many pictures and stories.. definately to span out a few days!

On December 18th I went with Travis' mom and sister to go antiquing.
We went to Amazing Grace where I found a pair of crocheted gloves and a lacy dressing robe.
Travis' sister and I snuck up to the attic (of-limits) while his mom kept watch!
Up there was an easel where the owner painted, water-damaged wallpaper, some furniture and dresses.
The best part was on the side of the door were signatures and dates..
When we were ready to come down from the attic we got trapped because there were some other customers on the floor!
Eventually they left though.

Then we went to Grannie's Attic.I found a treasure trove of vintage clothing!I purchased a red silk 1940's 2-piece dress and a grey wool 1950's dress made by Jacobson's.(pictures to come soon!)I tried on a white silk 1940's wedding dress and late 1800's dress but they both didn't fit quite right.Nevertheless, still fun to try on!

{Merry}

My Christmas present to myself this year: a vintage 1930's Neiman Marcus dress, found at Elizabeth's Timeless Attire.
Well it's actually a peignoir, but I just wear a white silk slip underneath and call it a dress.
Right now it's snowing outside.
I have a steaming cup of coffee and cranberry-orange muffins I baked earlier.
My kidney infection is slowly getting better.
